Results of January 30, 2013 Point in Time Count

Thanks to all of you who participated in the January count!

Here are results of the Point in Time Count of Sheltered and Unsheltered Homeless in Dane County:

  • 718 sheltered homeless individuals in 466 households.
    (Sheltered is defined as emergency shelter and transitional housing programs.)

  • 99 unsheltered homeless individuals in 93 households.
    (Unsheltered is defined as sleeping in a place not meant for habitation)

This is an increase from the January 2012 count, when 647 individuals were sheltered and 77 were unsheltered.

The Housing Inventory found an increase from last year in transitional housing beds (299 in 2012 to 322 in 2013) and supportive permanent housing beds (839 in 2012 to 1,017 in 2013).
