Homeless Advocacy Committee

12/13/12 Meeting Notes

The Homeless Advocacy Committee is a group of us that got together to have homeless represented in all phases of this Day Warming Center.

  1. We direct the homeless to organizations that have a volunteer inside this center and to the city organizations.
  2. You can tell us your problems, and even if we can’t solve them, we will try to hook you up with someone who can.
  3. Landlord problems, housing info, police trouble, family concerns, re-hab programs,
self-help ideas, employers/employee relations, food, clothing, transportation help, job search and resumes put together for those in need. This Day Warming Center is ready to help as best as they can.
  4. The Homeless Advocacy Group has to work hand-in-hand with the other groups within the Day Warming Center like the Advisory Board addressing issues about us.

About Operation Welcome Home

OWH is a group of homeless people in Madison, WI and their allies organizing around the root causes of homelessness- racism, poverty, and criminalization. We are fighting for housing, jobs, and an end to the criminalization of poverty.
